Kate Welsh is a poet, editor, and writer in Brooklyn. Born and raised along the Mississippi River, she has a BA in English from Barnard College and an MFA in Poetry from the Program for Writers at Warren Wilson College where she held the 2021 Rona Jaffe Graduate Fellowship. Her work has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and for Best New Poets. She is a co-founding editor of The Swannanoa Review.

Since 2020, Kate has been the director of communications at the Guggenheim Foundation. She leads the rollout of the annual fellowship announcements and spearheads digital communications strategy. In 2025, the Foundation’s centennial year, she helmed its first full-scale rebrand and website redesign. Previously, she has worked as a freelance writer, editor, and communications consultant, as well as in-house as a communications lead at multiple start-ups and in editorial at a number of publishing houses .
